Home Theatre help... Pls read the details below.?
I am from India. I wanna buy a home theatre system for my 32 inch LCD TV. My budget is 15,000 to 20,000 Indian Rs. max (approx. 366-488 US dollar). My major priorities are watching digital satellite TV and listening to music. Watching DVD movies isnt so important, though i may watch it once a week or so. Now i was considering home theater in a box (htib) of sony or panasonic bt i read many answers where it was suggested tht its better to go for seperate dvd player and a receiver. So which one should i go for htib or seperate components? And wht features should i look for?
Secondly i have also read that if going for separate components then again go for receiver and speakers from different companies as companies who make good recievers do not make such good speakers and vice-versa. Is it really so? And if its so wil it increase the price? Pls suggest the best bang for my buck.

What you read is correct. Separate components for your system is the way to go.
DVD players are cheap 20-50 dollars US. Spend your money on a good quality surround sound receiver, JVC, BOSE, PIONEER, etc.
The same for your speakers. Better quality will extend the life of you system.
Some features would be separate jacks for the CD player, DVD player, VCR, Record player, (phono), Tape player, Satellite Receiver, etc.
Extra jacks for A/B speakers and Video components like PlayStation's are also good options.
